New team mates +some observations...

Big Congratulations to the new members of the team - Kate and Bev - I'm so pleased your coming to oz, and you both deserve to be part of the team. Above is a picture of just some of the BoardFree Family, as well as our new team members, Bev and Kate.

Secondly, I was feeling a bit low this morning so thought i'd perk myself up by watching some of the videos from bfuk. I made some observations.
  1. Dave Does not drive.
  2. Dave does not understand road signs.
  3. Dave doesn't understand why drivers get tired. I know he's been skating along way but DRIVING IS TIRING! Its not just sitting down - its concentration - especially making sure that Dave is safe. Really Dave - learn to drive and then tell me its not tiring! (I know everyone will back this argument up... Except Dave)
  4. Dim goes on Random Rants. He is actually very funny.
  5. Holly is not only photogenic but good in front of the camera... Except when she gets the giggles.
  6. Simon is keen to have everyone's point of view - in times of crisis he's always in on the action - with his camera...
  7. Kate manages to say the right thing at the right time so when filming, there is no need for commentary.
  8. Bev is a poser - have you seen the photo of her on the car bonnet? She likes looking in the mirror a lot too.
  9. Dan finds writing the word 'poo' in the condensation on the windows of the van funny. Actually we all did. Childish I know.
  10. I frown too much.

Watch the videos and you'll see what I mean...

Finally, Me and Bev are moving in with Dave soon. Its exciting. We are going to live in a big tent. Secondly, My closest friend G and Annie are going to write scripts of what is going on in Swansea while I'm in oz and e-mail them to me, so that the team can act as the different characters. G is incredibly funny and Annie can make any story sound juicy. Role on Act 1.

that's it for now.

Come on some sponsors!

On Sunday I had my first event for raising my £3000. Myself and the Raggies went along to Hendre Carnival with some collecting buckets to raise some money. Stubbsy and Chugga also got waxed for the occasion - with nearly £200 in sponsorship between them, so in total we raised over £250 - a big thank you to everyone who donated and to those that helped out - esp. the raggies, Annie, Bev, Sierra, Vicky, Ki, Tor, Emma and of course - little elsa (the board).

Also, we did collections around St. Thomas where Dave lives. We collected a total of £172 - thank you residents!

To all the rotary clubs, Lions Clubs and Local companies - please please please sponsor me!

The end and the beginning of something Beautiful

I just had a full on friends moment. Its friday and I was sat in the green room (coffee shop) with my closest friends, ben, russell and Annie. We go there nearly every morning for a coffee, a chat, read the papers, cigarettes. We have done for the best part of three years. Then I notice a sign. Green room closes today at midday for the summer. This was my last ever coffee with the guys in the green room, as its closing next year. I burst into tears. It was like the last episode of friends. The reality hits that my life as i've known it for the last 3 years is quickly coming to an end. So much to look forward to, but stuff im going to miss too.

On an up i'm off to shrewsbury tonight with Bev and Dave to a vw festival to return the van. Im Quite excited. And today the World cup starts. wahoo!

Last night, Dave, Dan, Bev and myself dropped envelopes through every door in St Thomas in hope of some donations. £10 has come in already. We're going to collect them on Monday. Fingers crossed.

So just a quick one. Check the web for more updates.
much love

over in a flash. Well Done Dave!

It only seems like a coupleof days ago we were all at John O' Groats, and then on Friday Dave reached Lands end. Friday was only 12 miles (its ok to say that cos some days were a lot more!). We had a sketchy moment when we came out of Penzance as there was a big scary hill and the van nearly packed up. Great team work between Holly and I saved the day though!

In the final 2 miles to the big LE Dave made a speech into the little cam corder, not realising he was also miked up to Dimitri's. Dim relayed the speech back to us. Everyone in the van was crying - it was an emotional speech but really hit home as to why we were all there.

Minutes later we made it to Lands End. Crowds of people came out of the centre to watch, and we had a loo roll finish line, champagne and cameras galore. It was a great moment - thankfully I got my tears out of my system before hand and all iI could do was smile - I was proud and happy.

The afternoon and evening was amazing. We could all let our hair down for the first time in months. We had cornish pasties, Ice Cream and Beer - I never did get my cream tea. We all went down a big scary steep inflatable slide. I never mentioned on my application form that I was scared of heights - it just sounds so woosy - i cant even stand on a table with out getting scared. I forced myself to the top - then I freaked out - big time! The team and bev managed to get me down the slide eventually - thanks to dave and Si for holding my hand.

The evening was great - we just chilled with a sunset, beer, our tents and some giggles.

Its monday and Im back in work. I dont want to be here. I was getting used to not knowing where I was staying, sleeping in tents and on random sofas. Driving my little car seemed incredibly strange after driving the van for so long.

Dave did it, and im so proud. His foot is better, and hes now in london. I miss everyone already. I cant wait for Australia. Thank you to everyone who not only supported Dave but supported me.

895 miles down, 5000 to go.
much love.

Im so so so excited!

Its been an awesome day. Good roads, Sunshine, great pub lunch and we made it to Penzance. Lands End is just 10 miles away.

This afternoon was lush - Me, Dim, Kate and Dave put out a sleeping bag in a pub garden and chilled for an hour, listening to music, preping for tomorrow, making daisy chains, and just havig fun, it was really good.

Dave did really well today. I've had a few really proud moments. Emotional. I dont know whether I'm going to laugh or cry when he crosses that line. Even Dim welled up with tears at one point today.

Back in Falmouth - shower and bed. Bev, Dan and Gael are here, Holly and Nat are meeting us in Penzance. So excited. Cant imagine what life is going to be like after tomorrow.

BFUK 2006. Its nearly over.
